One of the things that I have to ask you about is the racial politics in this book, because on the back of my copy, I don't know if you have the same one as me, I have, like the 2020 reprint, but there's a quote from The New York Times that says "More than simply a detective novel, Mosley is a talented author with something vital to say about the distance between the black and white world, And with a dramatic way to say it." And I've heard a lot of people talk about, like, his writing about race, and obviously this book came out in 1990 but I don't think he had anything to say about race so much or like he had some things, but nothing profound or interesting to me
