Lot 003 - Antique Wrought Iron Toggle Harpoon Head with Remaining Rope Work at Shaft, Mid-19th Century, 23" L 1821 paper lossesAntique wrought iron toggle harpoon head, dating to the mid 19th century. The toggle head is mounted on a conical iron shaft socket with remnants of rope lashing at the base, showing the method of fastening the line directly to the harpoon shaft rather than through an iron ring. The toggle mechanism consists of a pivoting barbed head designed to turn sideways upon penetration. An accompanying dealer's tag initialed "RPK" and numbered "F11L01036" is
