Cheap, and a fantastic way to keep your Commander on the battlefield for longer, even if you've got no other artifacts in your deck, it can be a good move to put a Swiftfoot boots in there somewhere.
If Dark Depths leaves the battlefield before its triggered ability resolves, you won't be able to sacrifice it, so you won't create Marit Lage
I think the strategy of the deck is solid and consistent, but it requires a bit more strategizing than play as many tokens as you can then cover them in +1/+1 counters. I wouldve expected this to work the other way, lore-wise
